Dimitris Papastergiou was born in Trikala in 1973 and is an Electrical and Computer Engineer, a graduate of the National Technical University of Athens. He worked as an engineer, with professional activity in technology, software development, electromechanical projects and renewable energy sources. His career in local government began in 2002. He was elected Mayor of Trikala in 2014 and re-elected in 2019, while in the same year he was elected President of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE). He currently serves as Minister of Digital Governance.
